Phonics For Toddlers
We were wrapping a birthday present and my daughter was desperate to unwrap it. I got some of her wooden letters and wrapped a few up. She was so excited when she saw them, and couldn’t wait to see what was inside.
Fine Motor Skills
She opened the first one. They were wrapped quite tightly, so it took a while for her to get it open, making it a great fine motor activity. Once opened I asked her what letter sound she had got. If she didn’t know the sound I simply told her.

Once she had unwrapped them all she wanted to wrap them back up. Older children could use the letters to make words. How many words can you make in a minute with the wooden letters?
